David Corbett was born in Chicago and received a double major in Political Theory and Russian Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1985. He graduated from DePaul Law School in 1989, having earned an academic scholarship upon his admission there. He has run his own law practice since that time, heavily focusing on contested hearing and trial work from the start.
Mr. Corbett quickly developed a special appreciation for the particular challenges of criminal trial work. Soon realizing the unique skills required for trial advocacy, he paid his dues and learned from the some of the finest in the field. Not afraid to put in the extra work, he quickly developed a reputation for his command in the court room, in motion and practice and at trial.
Criminal clients are different. Their jobs and families are often at stake as a result of being prosecuted. They deserve someone who knows the lay of the land and how to connect with both Judges and opposing counsel to get the best results possible. He has developed a special touch for representing the impaired driver, and has extensive experience in drug cases, violent crimes and other serious criminal matters. Specializing in both felony and misdemeanor practice, David has taken literally hundreds of cases to verdict throughout his career. David has run his own shop for close to thirty years; he learned the value of being a serious trial attorney and remains dedicated to fight for his clients even after the gavel is struck. Mr. Corbett has clearly earned his stripes, becoming a well-known and respected presence in courtrooms in Chicago and throughout its surrounding suburbs.
In service to the legal profession and its practitioners, he has been the head of the Criminal Law Committee of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, which called upon him to give presentations at seminars and write articles on finer points of current case law and how best to run an effective criminal law practice. He has also written a chapter in the last two editions of the highly respected Defending DUI Cases for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), one of the leading legal education sources in our state.
He is a member of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association.
